Me,my wife Sharda and our 3 year old daughter Diksha set foot on Australian shores some 20 years ago. We hail from the holy city of Benaras (or Varanasi) in Uttar Pradesh and our life journey has taken us through many places and many continents. The state of Uttar Pradesh is renowned among other things for being the birthplace of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, of Taj Mahal and contributing maximum number of prime ministers of India. Hailing from such an illustrious state, and travelling widely, we are now settled in Melbourne, with daughter Diksha and son Eshan and enjoying the boons of the world’s most livable city. Still, we can not let go the essence of our being, our roots, our traditions, our innate Indianness, while embracing Australian way of life. The folk songs sung during festival of Holi, the river Ganges meandering through my birthplace Benaras, the aartis and ringing of bells in numerous temples of Benaras still beckon us with open arms. We are proud of where we come from and are pleased to be where we are.
